I became a certified public accountant in 1976 by the State of California. My initial career started with Arthur Andersen & Co. immediately after graduating form California State University Chico. After a short six months on the audit staff, I transferred to the Consulting Division. During the eight years with AA & Co., I was responsible for the design, development and implementation of large sophisticated computerized management accounting systems. Most of the projects lasted for more than a year, had a staff of over twenty-five technical people and a development cost of more than a million dollars. I also worked on litigation support and cost improvement projects throughout my stay with Arthur Andersen & Co.
After leaving Arthur Andersen & Co., I went to work for one of our clients as the Chief Financial Officer. This large ship repair company performed more $100 million in annual repairs and employed several hundred workers at its two locations in California. Here my responsibilities were typical of the position, including banking, Financial Resource Management, Investments, Management Information Systems and Financial Reporting.
As my children started to reach the wonder years, I decided I needed to be closer to home. Fortunately, my mother-in-law was a partner in a bookkeeping business and reaching retirement age. My wife and I purchased the business in 1980 and we've been here ever since. We offer accounting, payroll, tax and consulting to individuals, partnerships and corporations. Our clients have been with the firm for many years, some over twenty years. Being able to offer CPA, Securities and Communication services has enabled us to provide a complete financial package to our clients and the community.
